The Thai government has suspended construction of 49 data center projects as it prepares new industry regulations, which are expected to be announced within a month. Despite this, Thailand still approved 88 AI- and data center-related projects in H1 2026, with a total investment of 886 billion baht (about $27 billion).

US Treasury Secretary Bessent noted that the current rise in oil prices and bond yields are historically highly correlated. He predicts that once the Iran conflict ends and the situation eases, the global oil market will face severe oversupply, and oil prices could plunge to $40-50 per barrel, at which point bond yields and inflation will also pull back in tandem, reversing the aforementioned high correlation.

미국의 8월 비농업 부문 고용은 계절 조정 기준으로 16만 2천 명 증가해 3월 이후 최대치를 기록했으며, 시장 예상치인 5만 6천 명을 크게 웃돌았다. 6월과 7월의 고용 증가 폭은 합산 5만 5천 명 상향 조정됐고, 8월 실업률은 4.1%의 낮은 수준을 유지했다. 트럼프 미국 대통령은 고용 지표가 “매우 강력하다”고 평가하며 연준에 금리 인하를 다시 촉구했고, 높은 금리가 미국을 “불공정한 불리함”에 놓이게 한다고 강조했다. 또한 연준이 금리를 인하하지 않으면 미국이 무역 적자국과의 교역을 중단할 것이라고 위협했다. 지표 발표 후 시장의 9월 연준 금리 인상 기대가 크게 높아졌으며, 8월 CPI 지표까지 예상을 웃돌 경우 금리 인상은 거의 확실시될 전망이다.
