South Korean Scientists Develop Tin Nanoparticle Composite Anode for Faster Battery Charging
According to reports, scientists from Pohang University of Science and Technology and the Korea Institute of Energy Research have developed a new-type composite anode material by embedding tin nanoparticles into a hard carbon matrix, providing a novel solution to address this challenge. This innovation significantly enhances the charging speed and cycle life of both lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries. Experimental data show that when lithium-ion batteries utilize this hard carbon-tin nanocomposite anode, they can achieve a cycle life exceeding 1,500 cycles under 20-minute fast charging conditions, with an energy density reaching 1.5 times that of traditional graphite anode batteries. In the application of sodium-ion batteries, this material also demonstrates excellent cycle stability and superior kinetic characteristics. The related research findings have been published in the journal "ACS Nano.
