【Limited Increase in TCs, Focus on Subsequent Actual Negotiation Results】: In May, domestic zinc concentrate TCs continued to rise. The SMM monthly average TC for domestic zinc concentrates increased by 50 yuan/mt (metal content) MoM to 3,500 yuan/mt (metal content), while the SMM Zn50 monthly average TC for imported zinc concentrates rose by $5/dmt MoM to $45/dmt. On a weekly basis, the SMM Zn50 weekly average TC for domestic zinc concentrates remained flat at 3,450 yuan/mt (metal content) WoW, and the SMM Zn50 weekly average TC for imported zinc concentrates increased by $5/dmt WoW to $40/dmt....
In the spot market for zinc ore, domestic smelters began negotiations for May zinc concentrate TCs this week, but the actual negotiation results have not yet been finalized. Although domestic smelters continue to stand firm on quotes, zinc prices have pulled back significantly compared to previous months, and mines have shown little willingness to raise TCs. The domestic zinc concentrate TCs for May may see limited increases. For imported zinc ore, the SHFE/LME price ratio was favorable this week, and import traders offered more quotes. Some domestic traders have quoted Antamina zinc ore TCs above $30/dmt, and the weekly TCs for imported zinc ore increased WoW. Additionally, the recent tender result for New Century zinc ore was $28/dmt, with a tender volume of 10,000 mt and a shipment date of June 2025. SMM will continue to monitor subsequent adjustments in zinc concentrate TCs.
According to SMM, the Antamina copper-zinc mine in Peru was shut down due to an accident on Tuesday and gradually resumed operations on Thursday morning. The current recovery scale remains uncertain. The mine produced 268,000 mt (metal content) of zinc concentrates in 2024. SMM will continue to follow up on subsequent developments.
This week, SMM zinc concentrate inventories at China's main ports totaled 380,000 mt, an increase of 59,000 mt WoW, indicating growth in port zinc ore inventories.

맥킬베나 베이 구리-아연 광산, 첫 아연 정광 생산 달성, 2026년 3분기 상업 생산 목표
캐나다 서스캐처원주에 위치한 매킬베나 베이 구리-아연 프로젝트가 중요한 운영 이정표에 도달했다. 프로젝트 운영사인 엘도라도 골드는 2026년 6월 첫 구리 정광을 생산했고, 2026년 7월 첫 아연 정광을 생산했다고 밝혔다. 현재 증산 단계에 있으며 2026년 3분기 상업 생산 달성이 예정대로 진행 중이다. 2026년 연간 아연 생산량은 3,000~6,000톤(구리 500만~1,000만 파운드와 병행)으로 전망된다.
약 18년으로 추정되는 광산 수명 동안 매킬베나 베이는 연평균 아연 5,400만 파운드(약 24,500톤)와 구리 4,100만 파운드(약 18,600톤)를 생산할 것으로 예상된다. 엘도라도 골드는 현재 일일 처리 용량을 4,900톤에서 7,000톤으로 확장하는 방안과 은-납 회수 공정 추가를 검토 중이다. 매킬베나 베이의 성공적인 증산은 북미 및 글로벌 시장에 새로운 정광 공급을 제공하여 글로벌 비철금속 정광 공급 부족 완화에 기여할 전망이다.
