Pony.ai, Tencent Cloud join forces to accelerate L4 Robotaxi deployment

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 22, Pony.ai signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tencent Cloud to jointly advance the development Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving technologies and deployment of Robotaxi services.

The partnership will integrate technologies across cloud computing, mapping data, cybersecurity, and smart cockpit ecosystems to expand Robotaxi applications on both the vehicle and user ends, accelerating the commercialization of L4 autonomous driving solutions.

As part of the collaboration, the two companies will explore integrating Pony.ai's Robotaxi services into Tencent's WeChat "Mobility Services" entry point and Tencent Maps, allowing Tencent users to access intelligent, safe, and comfortable autonomous ride-hailing experiences. Leveraging Tencent's extensive mobile and in-vehicle application ecosystem, the partnership will also focus on enhancing in-cabin user experiences and exploring scalable business models for Robotaxi operations.

On the R&D front, the two sides will jointly develop autonomous driving map solutions and cybersecurity frameworks tailored to Robotaxi R&D, testing, and deployment. By combining Tencent Cloud's strengths in cloud infrastructure, big data, simulation, and AI with Pony.ai's autonomous driving expertise, the partners aim to build a high-efficiency cloud-based development and testing platform. This platform will support the full product lifecycle—from R&D and simulation to operational rollout—enabling large-scale training and parallel simulation of L4 autonomous vehicle systems.
