SAIC-GM's Buick brand partners with Momenta for urban assisted driving solutions

Beijing (Gasgoo)- SAIC-GM's Buick brand has officially entered into a strategic partnership with autonomous driving technology firm Momenta to jointly develop and commercialize urban assisted driving features, according to Momenta's annoucement on April 21. The two sides aim to establish a new R&D paradigm focused on full-scenario assisted driving solutions.

Leveraging deep integration at the architecture level, the partnership will see Momenta co-develop advanced urban driving capabilities for future Buick models. Momenta's proven experience in mass production is expected to significantly shorten development cycles and enhance the competitiveness of Buick vehicles, enabling faster rollout of safer and more intelligent user experiences. The first Buick model equipped with Momenta's new urban assisted driving system is scheduled for release in the second half of 2025.

Momenta is the first in the industry to launch a mass-production-grade foundation model tailored for autonomous driving, integrating perception and planning into a unified large model architecture. This enables an end-to-end urban driving solution that supports features ranging from precise home parking to complex navigation assistance.

With Buick's advanced vehicle sensing and control systems combined with Momenta's efficient algorithms, the upcoming urban assisted driving solutions will offer proactive risk prediction and avoidance. Drawing on Buick's 26 years of operational experience in China, the collaboration will continue refining feature interaction and user experience.
