Xiong Baiqing, Director of the National Key Laboratory of Nonferrous Metal Structural Materials in China, led his team to successfully develop the "High-Magnesium Lightweight Aluminum" based on nearly 30 years of research practice, combined with advanced material calculation technology, and fully utilizing China's magnesium resource advantages. This new-type aluminum alloy, compared to the existing 7xxx and 2xxx series aluminum alloys, has a density reduction of 5% to 10% and a raw material cost reduction of 15%. At the same time, under the same alloy composition conditions, it can achieve a wide range of comprehensive performance matching through the adjustment of the treatment process, replacing the widely used main aluminum alloys and realizing "one material for multiple uses." This technological breakthrough brings significant weight reduction effects for aerospace vehicles.
China Youyan is actively collaborating with manufacturing enterprises in aviation, aerospace, high-speed rail, NEV, robotics, and consumer electronics to accelerate the comprehensive assessment and verification of the industrial products of this material, striving to achieve mass production and application during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period.
