Manufacturing is the foundation of a nation's strength and prosperity. According to the latest VAT invoice data from the State Taxation Administration, in Q1 this year, China's manufacturing sales revenue increased by 4.8% YoY, accelerating by 0.9 percentage points compared to 2024. The development of the manufacturing sector has shown steady improvement in quality, presenting multiple highlights.
The high-end development of manufacturing is accelerating. In Q1, the sales revenue of high-tech manufacturing and equipment manufacturing grew by 12.1% and 9.7% YoY, respectively, accelerating by 3.1 and 3.5 percentage points compared to 2024. Among them, the sales revenue of computer manufacturing, communication equipment manufacturing, and electronic industrial equipment manufacturing increased by 29.8%, 17.8%, and 16.4% YoY, reflecting China's continuous progress toward the mid-to-high-end value chain in manufacturing.
The trend of intelligent upgrading in manufacturing is evident. In Q1, the sales revenue of digital product manufacturing grew by 12% YoY, and the procurement of digital technologies by manufacturing enterprises increased by 8.7% YoY, reflecting the rapid advancement of digital transformation in manufacturing. The sales revenue of intelligent equipment manufacturing grew by 13.2% YoY, with industrial robot manufacturing, intelligent vehicle equipment manufacturing, and service consumer robot manufacturing increasing by 12.4%, 26.5%, and 55.4% YoY, respectively, accelerating the pace of intelligent upgrading in manufacturing.
The green transformation of manufacturing is steadily progressing. In Q1, the sales revenue of high-energy-consuming manufacturing accounted for 29.2% of the total manufacturing sector, down by 1.4 percentage points YoY, reflecting significant achievements in carbon reduction. The procurement of environmental governance services by manufacturing enterprises increased by 13% YoY, accelerating by 4.6 percentage points compared to 2024, indicating continued growth in green governance investment.
A relevant official from the State Taxation Administration stated that the tax authorities will further implement and refine various tax and fee preferential policies to support the high-quality development of manufacturing. Leveraging tax big data, they will deepen and expand the "policy finding people" initiative, optimize tax and fee payment services, actively respond to corporate demands, and help manufacturing enterprises upgrade toward high-end, intelligent, and green transformation, boosting confidence, strength, and momentum for innovative development.
