On the evening of April 11, Meijin Energy announced the termination of a major asset restructuring plan. This undoubtedly poured cold water on investors who were expecting the company to further consolidate its coal and coke business and strengthen the layout of the "coal-coke-gas-chemical-hydrogen" entire industry chain.
On October 9, 2024, Meijin Energy announced that the company planned to acquire a 51% stake in Jinyuan Mine held by Meijin Group, a 49% stake in Zhengwang Mining held by Shanxi Hongchi, and a 49% stake in Zhengcheng Mining held by Shanxi Suyang through the issuance of shares.
At that time, the company stated that the transaction would help consolidate its position in the industry, enhance its core competitiveness, and achieve the integration and strengthening of the "coal-coke-gas-chemical-hydrogen" integrated industry chain.
Regarding the shelving of the restructuring, Meijin Energy stated that due to the failure of the parties involved to reach an agreement on relevant commercial terms, the decision to terminate the transaction was made after thorough and prudent research and friendly consultation.
