China and Europe Initiate Negotiations on EV Price Commitments Amid Tariff Disputes

According to reports, the Chinese and European teams have initiated negotiations on EVs. Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao held a video meeting with European Commission Executive Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis, who is responsible for trade and economic security. Both sides agreed to immediately commence negotiations on price commitments for EVs. The EU and China have agreed to study setting a minimum price for EVs manufactured in China, rather than imposing tariffs. German media reported that the EV negotiations have already begun. Some securities analysts believe that the negotiations between China and Europe on tariff alternatives for new energy vehicles could accelerate the growth of new energy vehicle sales in Europe. Amid tariff disputes between the U.S. and Europe, trade cooperation between China and Europe is expected to strengthen, promoting exports in areas such as EVs and ESS.
