BYD's Han L, Tang L flagship models hit market, both riding on Super e-Platform

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 9, BYD officially put its new flagship sedan and SUV models under the Dynasty Series, the Han L and Tang L, onto the market. Both models are built on the automaker's Super e-Platform, which featuring flash-charging batteries, a 30,000 RPM motor, and new silicon carbide (SiC) power chips.

Both BYD Han L and Tang L come with battery electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (DM) versions.

The Han L EV is offered in three variants priced from 219,800 yuan to 279,800 yuan, while the Han L DM also comes in three trims ranging from 209,800 yuan to 259,800 yuan. Similarly, the Tang L EV is priced between 239,800 yuan and 289,800 yuan, and the Tang L DM between 229,800 yuan and 285,800 yuan.

Han L

Positioned as a mid-to-large sedan, the Han L measures 5,050 mm in length with a 2,970 mm wheelbase. It boasts a top speed of 305 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 2.7 seconds.

Designed by BYD's global design head Wolfgang Egger, the Han L evolves the brand's signature "Dragon Face" design into a sleeker "Loong Face" aesthetic. The slim headlights, dynamic front fascia, and active grille vents give it a balance of elegance and sportiness.

Along the sides, the car features smooth lines, an integrated "dragon whisker" design from the front fender to the door handles, and a flowing C-pillar inspired by traditional Chinese calligraphy strokes.

At the rear, the new "Phoenix Feather" taillight design enhances visual identity, while the body paint options draw inspiration from Chinese ceramics—offered in hues like Liuguang Silver (Ding kiln white porcelain), Mozhu Green (Longquan celadon), and Duanyan Grey (Jian ware).

Inside, the Han L adopts a floating central touchscreen paired with a digital instrument cluster. The interior emphasizes vertical symmetry inspired by a "spinal" design theme, using soft-touch materials and bamboo-wood accents for a refined touch.

Premium features include multi-way adjustable, heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats; executive-style rear seats with a control panel; double-glazed windows; a refrigerated compartment; in-car fragrance system; wireless charging; a Dynaudio sound system; and BYD's "God's Eye" intelligent driving suite.

The Han L EV variant rides on BYD's Super e-Platform. The single-motor version delivers up to 500 kW, while the dual-motor version offers 230 kW front and 580 kW rear outputs, enabling the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 2.7 seconds. The DM-p variant features BYD's fifth-generation hybrid system, a dedicated 1.5T engine with a peak output of 115 kW, and a 200 kW electric motor. It offers battery-powered ranges of 145 km and 170 km, and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.

Tang L

The Tang L SUV, also positioned in the mid-to-large segment, shares the same "Loong Face" design philosophy. It features a closed front grille, unique LED daytime running lights dubbed "Square Eyes," and L-shaped air ducts. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor highlights the integration of BYD's advanced "God's Eye-B" intelligent driving hardware.

Sporty side lines and hidden door handles enhance the Tang L's modern look, while traditional Chinese colors such as Mozhu Green, Starlight Grey, and Xuanjia Black provide cultural flair. The vehicle measures 5,040 mm long with a 2,950 mm wheelbase.

At the rear, a full-width light bar and sculpted aerodynamic elements reinforce the SUV's dynamic stance. Notably, the Tang L features BYD's new "Lingyuan" smart drone system, capable of automatic takeoff, landing, and real-time tracking—first unveiled in Shenzhen earlier this year.

Inside, the Tang L mirrors the Han L's cabin layout with a large floating touchscreen, digital cluster, and physical buttons for ease of use. The sporty flat-bottom steering wheel adds to the tech-meets-tradition ambiance. The seven-seat configuration (2+3+2) ensures comfort for all passengers, with both first and second-row seats offering power adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Additional amenities include a refrigerator, panoramic sunroof, privacy curtains, and a premium DiSound system.

Powertrain options for the Tang L are similar to the Han L. The EV version, based on the Super e-Platform, includes a single-motor variant with 500 kW output and 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.3 seconds. The dual-motor AWD version delivers a combined 810 kW (230 kW front, 580 kW rear) and reaches 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. Battery options include a 100.531 kWh Blade Battery supporting CLTC ranges of 670 km, 600 km, and 560 km.

The DM versions feature BYD's latest fifth-generation system. The DM-i model is equipped with a 115 kW 1.5T engine and a 200 kW motor, while the more advanced DM-p pairs the same engine with dual 200 kW motors front and rear, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. Battery capacity is 35.624 kWh, offering battery-powered ranges of 135 km, 150 km, and 165 km. Fuel consumption in depleted battery mode is rated at 5.7L/100 km.
