Impact of Tax Policy Adjustment on the Petroleum Coke Market

In accordance with the "Customs Law of the People's Republic of China," the "Customs Law of the People's Republic of China," the "Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China," and other laws and regulations, as well as the basic principles of international law, and upon approval by the State Council, the Tariff Commission of the State Council announced that, starting from 12:01 on April 10, 2025, a 34% tariff will be imposed on all imported goods originating from the US. China imports a significant amount of petroleum coke from the US annually, primarily mid and high-sulphur petroleum coke.

For goods that have already departed from the place of shipment before 12:01 on April 10, 2025, and are imported between 12:01 on April 10, 2025, and 24:00 on May 13, 2025, the additional tariff will not be imposed. China urges the US to immediately cancel unilateral tariff measures and resolve trade differences through consultations in an equal, respectful, and mutually beneficial manner.
