Wan Gang: Accelerating the Large-Scale Road Access of L3 Autonomous Vehicles

On March 29, Wan Gang, President of the China Association for Science and Technology, proposed at the high-level forum of the China EV100 Forum (2025) that the infrastructure construction needs for intelligent connected systems should be incorporated into urban renewal and construction plans. This will promote the efficient coordination of digital infrastructure such as 5G communication, roadside sensing, and high-precision maps with digital construction in related fields, and explore new sustainable operation models for new-type infrastructure. At the same time, adhering to the principle of balancing development and safety, it is essential to establish and improve the product access testing standards for high-level autonomous intelligent connected vehicles based on functional classification, formulate and revise relevant traffic safety laws and regulations, and accelerate the large-scale road access of L3 autonomous vehicles.
