Shan Steel Special Steel Successfully Produces Square Continuous Casting Billet

Recently, Shan Steel Special Steel Business Unit reported good news, successfully producing a 220×220mm section continuous casting billet on the No. 2 continuous casting machine. This is also the first time that Shan Steel Special Steel has produced a square continuous casting billet, marking a new breakthrough in the field of alloy steel continuous casting technology. The No. 2 continuous casting machine can produce rectangular continuous casting billets with three sections: 180*220mm, 240*375mm, and 320*420mm, mainly supplying billets for medium and small bars, as well as special-shaped and small production lines of special steel. "Currently, the length-to-width ratio of our billets cannot fully meet the needs of passenger car users. After benchmarking with advanced enterprises, we found that they produce high-end products with specifications below φ80mm using 220*220mm billets, achieving the optimal combination of quality, cost, and efficiency," said Zhiqiang Liu, Director of the Production Technology Department/Environmental Protection Management Department.
