Dust Explosion Injures 20 at Huachuan Machinery Processing Co., Ltd. in Qinhuangdao

At approximately 9:54 a.m. on March 8, 2025, a dust explosion occurred at Huachuan Machinery Processing Co., Ltd. in the Economic and Technological Development Zone of Qinhuangdao City, Hebei province, resulting in 20 injuries. Among them, 5 individuals sustained mild to moderate burns, while the remaining injured have gradually been discharged from the hospital. Based on on-site investigation and analysis, the preliminary determination suggests that the direct cause of the accident may have been triggered by the following factors: spontaneous combustion of aluminum alloy dust that had become damp inside the dust removal system, static electricity within the bag dust collector, or high-temperature heat sources generated during grinding operations. These factors led to an explosion in the dust removal system, with the blast wave and flames subsequently spreading into the workshop, causing injuries to on-site workers. The cause of the accident is still under further investigation.
