【Observe for Reignition or Explosion 24 Hours After Extinguishing Open Flames! Another New Energy Storage Standard Open for Comments】
On March 10, the recommended industry standard "Fire Suppression Test Methods for Electrochemical Energy Storage Systems," undertaken by the Tianjin Fire Research Institute of the Ministry of Emergency Management and other organizations, was released for public comment. This standard applies to fire suppression test methods for prefabricated cabin-type LFP battery energy storage systems with a rated capacity of no less than 100 kWh. Energy storage systems with a rated capacity of less than 100 kWh can refer to this standard for implementation. This standard does not apply to lithium-ion battery energy storage systems with ternary chemistries.
The document requires that after a fire ignites and burns continuously for 1 minute, the fire suppression device should be manually activated, and the time to extinguish the open flames should be recorded. Within 30 minutes after the open flames are extinguished, the ignition device should be activated every 3 minutes to reignite the fire. The test concludes 24 hours after the open flames are extinguished, during which observations should be made for any reignition or explosion phenomena.
