Silicon Coal Prices Decline Due to Weak Silicon Metal Market [SMM Silicon Daily Review]

SMM March 11 News: Silicon prices in parts of east China slightly weakened. Standard #553 silicon was priced at 10,500-10,600 yuan/mt, while above-standard #553 silicon was at 10,500-10,700 yuan/mt, with the average price down by 50 yuan/mt. #421 silicon was priced at 11,200-11,500 yuan/mt, with the average price also down by 50 yuan/mt. Silicon metal prices fluctuated downward, coupled with the overall operating rate of the current silicon metal market remaining relatively low. On the raw material side, demand has not shown significant improvement, and the price of silicon coal, a raw material for silicon metal, has recently declined again. This price drop was still concentrated in Xinjiang and Ningxia. In Xinjiang, the decline in silicon coal prices was mainly due to previous official high pricing, but actual order signing prices had certain concessions. Currently, official prices have been adjusted down to align with actual order signing prices, around 1,670 yuan/mt. Meanwhile, in Ningxia, leading silicon coal enterprises further reduced prices by 30 yuan/mt to stimulate demand.
