SMM Analysis: The slight decline in iron ore imports from January to February this year was mainly due to significantly reduced shipments from Australia and Brazil caused by extreme weather, leading to a sharp drop in port arrivals. Additionally, frequent rain and snow in China caused severe port congestion, compounded by the impact of the Chinese New Year holiday, further suppressing imports. Moreover, February had one less day compared to last year, which also affected import volumes.
In March, with reduced weather disruptions overseas, global shipments have rebounded significantly. Meanwhile, as China enters its traditional peak season, steel mills have accelerated production, pig iron production has increased, and overall demand for iron ore has rebounded, which will drive import growth. Therefore, SMM expects iron ore imports in March to increase significantly.

철광석 선물은 수요일 강세를 보였다. 다롄상품거래소(DCE)의 가장 활발하게 거래된 I2701 계약은 726.5위안/톤으로 마감해 전 거래일 대비 1.32% 상승했다. 칭다오항 현물 가격은 평균 12~14위안/톤 상승했으며, 트레이더들의 매도 의향은 보통 수준이었고 제철소는 필요에 따라 구매했다. 전반적인 현물 거래 활동은 부진했다.
