On March 4, the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources issued Ministerial Regulation No. 6 of 2025, amending the provisions related to the completion of domestic metal mineral refining facilities in Regulation No. 6 of 2024. The new regulation aims to address temporary export needs under force majeure circumstances, particularly for holders of special mining permits when refining facilities are unable to operate. According to SMM, the Indonesian government has lifted the export ban on Freeport copper concentrates, and the export permit has been approved, though it has not yet been signed. Reportedly, some copper concentrate inventories are awaiting shipment.
