SMM HRC Daily Review: HRC Production Down WoW, Inventory Starts to Decline This Week? HRC futures fluctuated and rose today, with a full-day gain of 0.35%, and the most-traded contract closed at 3,396 yuan/mt. Intraday market trading sentiment was moderate, with spot prices in most major cities up 10-20 yuan/mt, and transactions were average. On the news front, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) will release specific plans to address structural imbalances in key industries by sector. Supply side, new maintenance of steel mill equipment in central and northern markets, coupled with environmental protection-driven production restrictions in some regions, led to a 43,900 mt WoW decline in HRC production, easing supply pressure. Demand side, apparent demand rebounded 44,100 mt WoW this week, and downstream demand is also recovering and ramping up seasonally, with social inventory starting to decrease. Total inventory now stands at 590.71, down 30,500 mt WoW. Overall, policies during the conference may cause some disturbance to the futures market, but in the short term, HRC prices are expected to mainly fluctuate rangebound.
