Vietnam, South Korea Discuss Trade, Industrial Cooperation, Focusing on Renewable Energy, Nuclear Power, and Rare Earth Mining

Vietnam's Minister of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Hong Dien, recently met with South Korea's Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ahn Duk-geun. During the meeting, the two sides had in-depth discussions on directions and methods to strengthen trade and industrial cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea, with particular emphasis on the potential for collaboration in the fields of renewable energy and nuclear power.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien also held meetings with leaders of several major South Korean energy groups, including Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Doosan Energy, POSCO E&C, and LS ECO Energy. In addition to cooperation in electricity and energy, South Korean partners expressed strong interest in collaborating with Vietnam in the field of rare earth mining. Vietnam's rare earth reserves are approximately 22 million mt, accounting for over 18% of the global total, ranking second in the world.
