Spot premiums in Shandong remained at low levels this week, with relatively small WoW changes. As of Thursday, the average spot premium in Shandong was reported at a discount of 325 yuan/mt. Specifically, end-use consumption remained lackluster, and downstream purchasing enthusiasm was low. Approaching month-end, suppliers, driven by destocking pressure, continued to sell at low prices, but overall market transactions remained sluggish with low trading activity. Next week marks the beginning of March, and changes in copper cathode inventories and actual downstream consumption performance are expected to influence spot market transactions. Currently, spot prices in Shandong are nearing the bottom, and under the expectation of a consumption rebound, spot premiums are anticipated to show a slow recovery trend in the future.

A copper-zinc mine in northeastern Saskatchewan is about to achieve commercial production, and the Canadian federal government has designated it as a project of national significance.At a project update held in Saskatoon on Wednesday, Canadian miner Eldorado Gold said its Mcllvenna Bay underground mine produced copper concentrates in June and zinc concentrates in July, and plans to commence commercial production by the end of Q3 this year.
