[SMM Flash News] SMM February 26 - Indonesian nickel company PT Merdeka Battery Materials announced that it has signed a final agreement with strategic partners to build a high-pressure acid leach (HPAL) plant worth $1.8 billion to produce nickel materials for EV batteries.
Merdeka stated in a Monday release that the HPAL plant will have an annual capacity of 90,000 mt. The company added that the project commenced construction in January and the plant is expected to enter the commissioning phase within 18 months.
