Vietnam stated that it has no intention of implementing measures that "create burdens or restrict trade" with the US and is prepared to open its market and increase imports of US agricultural products to avoid Trump's tariff threats. According to a statement on the website of Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien said during a meeting with the country's top US envoy that Vietnam welcomes US investors to participate in "new energy projects, the oil and natural gas sector, and mining" to ensure energy security and the development of a sustainable supply chain between the two countries. The US Ambassador to Vietnam stated that the recently imposed tariffs were not targeted at Vietnam. The statement quoted the US Ambassador as saying, "The US hopes to maintain bilateral relations and continue to develop economic and trade cooperation with Vietnam in a positive direction.
