[SMM Monthly Shipping Data: Significant Decline in Global Shipments and Port Arrivals in January] SMM reported that the global iron ore shipment volume in January 2025 totaled 1.2487 billion mt, down 14.8% MoM. Among the major contributors, Brazil saw a decline of over 20% MoM, Australia decreased by 13.7% MoM, and South Africa's total shipment volume fell slightly by 12.1% MoM. On a YoY basis, all countries except South Africa experienced a decline. In January 2025, China's total iron ore port arrivals reached 1.0762 billion mt, down slightly by 5.5% MoM and 4.7% YoY. Among them, the port arrivals at the two main ports in Shandong, as well as Fangchenggang and Bayuquan, increased slightly, while other ports saw a decline.
