Iron Ore Futures Rise Amid Limited Transactions and Environmental Production Restrictions

게시됨: Dec 10, 2024 17:01
Today, iron ore futures opened higher and continued to rise, reaching a high of 833 before slightly retreating. Throughout the day, it fluctuated upward, with the most-traded contract I2501 closing at 817, up 1.87% for the day. Traders were actively selling; steel mills were cautiously observing, with moderate purchase willingness. Today's market transactions were limited. Transaction prices increased by 5-10 yuan/mt compared to yesterday. According to SMM's blast furnace maintenance survey, due to environmental protection-driven production restrictions in Hebei, multiple steel mills' blast furnaces were forced to shut down and undergo maintenance, with the impact from maintenance increasing by over 200,000 mt WoW. This led to weakened iron ore demand, limiting the rise in ore prices. Nevertheless, considering the upcoming economic conference, market sentiment remains optimistic, and ore prices are expected to maintain a fluctuating upward trend in the short term.
