[Production in 2025! Honda Announces All-Solid-State Battery Demonstration Line] SMM has learned that on November 21, Honda announced its all-solid-state battery demonstration production line located in Sakura City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Honda will conduct technical verification, establish mass production processes, and determine the basic configuration of battery cells on this demonstration line. The key equipment for this demonstration line has been installed and production will begin in January 2025. The project investment amounts to approximately 43 billion yen.

It is understood that the production process of Honda's all-solid-state batteries adopts the unique rolling technology of all-solid-state batteries based on the previous liquid lithium-ion battery production process. This helps to improve the density of the solid electrolyte layer and allows for continuous pressing.

To adopt the rolling technology, Honda will strive to enhance the interface contact between the electrolyte and the electrode, thereby improving overall production efficiency.
