[SMM Rebar Daily Review: Weak Supply and Demand Continue, Market Faces Dilemma] Today, rebar futures fluctuated rangebound, closing at 3,319 points, up 0.85%. The central bank announced that interest rates remained unchanged, dashing market expectations for a rate cut. Rebar futures fluctuated rangebound, with spot cargo prices rising slightly in some regions, but overall transactions were disappointing. Supply side, the operating rate of electric furnaces declined again, with most electric furnace steel mills nearing the brink of losses. Meanwhile, maintenance at blast furnace steel mills increased, resulting in minimal pressure on construction material supply. Demand side, construction conditions in some northern regions were no longer viable, while southern construction sites were gradually completing projects. The market's focus shifted to winter stockpiling, with some steel mills already announcing winter stockpiling policies, which should be closely monitored. Looking ahead, there is an expectation for a slight recovery in blast furnace pig iron production, and rising raw material prices may drive a modest increase in finished steel prices. However, due to the off-season impact, the upward space is limited, and steel prices are expected to fluctuate in the short term.
