In October 2024, Metro Mining achieved a new monthly record for bauxite shipments from its Bauxite Hills Mine project in Weipa, Queensland, with 793,420 wet metric tons, marking a 2% increase from the previous month and an 18% year-on-year growth. The average daily transfer volume of bauxite reached a record high of 33,364 wet metric tons. Since the beginning of the year, Metro Mining's total bauxite shipments from this project have amounted to 4.45 million wet metric tons, which is 69.5% of the annual target shipment of 6.4 million wet metric tons. Additionally, it is noteworthy that at the recently opened 9th Asia-Pacific Stainless Steel Industry Conference, the Indonesian Nickel Miners Association revealed that Indonesia plans to follow its previous nickel ore export ban by implementing a new export ban on 12 mineral resources, including bauxite, aiming to promote downstream domestic industrial development.
