[SMM Building Materials Inventory: Initial Manifestation of Supply-Demand Imbalance; Inventory Shifts from Decline to Accumulation] This week, the inventory in the building materials market saw a slight accumulation, with total inventory increasing by 80,300 tonnes. Among them, mill inventories increased significantly by 120,200 tonnes, while social inventories continued to decline. On the supply side, thanks to the previous surge in steel product prices ahead of raw material costs, steel mill profits improved significantly, leading to varying degrees of production increases and resumptions at steel plants nationwide, both in the long and short process. However, on the demand side, after the end of high-density favorable policy stimuli, market sentiment waned, and downstream purchases returned to their own needs. As a result, the pace of inventory digestion slowed down, making it difficult to maintain the previous speed. This led to a noticeable accumulation of inventory in the current period. Overall, the digestion of building materials inventory has been hindered, and the initial manifestation of supply-demand imbalance has emerged.
