【SMM Annual Metals Conference | SMM: Steel Prices Have Room to Decrease in Costs by 2025, and Incremental Launch of New Hot-Rolled Coil Capacity Will Decline】Yao Xinying, the Research Director of SMM Steel Category, shared insights into the continuous expansion of production capacity and the interpretation of plate prices in 2025. SMM predicts that from 2025 onwards, the incremental launch of new hot-rolled coil capacity will decrease. If the annual production is around 190 million tons, the domestic demand gap is expected to be 30 million tons. Steel prices are closely tied to costs, and the fundamentals of raw materials are expected to ease in 2025, allowing for room for cost reductions.
