[SMM Copper Spot] During the day, mainstream flat copper was quoted at a discount of RMB 80/tonne to RMB 50/tonne against the contract for the current month, while high-quality copper was quoted at a discount of RMB 40/tonne to RMB 20/tonne. The monthly spread widened significantly intraday, with holders' willingness to sell decreasing markedly and a relatively pessimistic attitude towards the future premium. According to SMM's survey, domestic inventories unexpectedly declined over the weekend, with reduced arrivals at domestic smelters being the primary reason. If copper prices decline in the short term, it is expected that consumption increments will support the spot premium.
