The Office of the United States Trade Representative stated that starting from September 27th, the tariff rate for Chinese-made electric vehicles will be increased to 100%, the tariff rate for solar cells will be increased to 50%, and the tariff rates for electric vehicle batteries, key minerals, steel, aluminum, masks, and shore-based container cranes will all be raised to 25%. Additionally, the United States has increased the import tariff for Chinese semiconductors by 50%, with this new tax rate taking effect in January 2025. Semiconductors now include two newly added categories, polysilicon and silicon wafers used in solar panels.
