South Korea to Introduce New EV Safety Regulations and Battery Certification System Ahead of Schedule

The South Korean government is about to issue new safety regulations for electric vehicles. According to Yonhap News Agency, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to issue legislative notices on the new safety regulations for electric vehicles announced last week. The announcement of the amendment to the enforcement regulations of the Automobile Management Law will begin on Tuesday and last for 40 days. The government also announced that the electric vehicle battery certification system, originally scheduled to be implemented next year, will be piloted in October this year. By then, enterprises need to disclose key information about batteries, including brands and main components.
