China's Aluminum Wire Industry Operating Rate Slips Slightly Amid Grid Project Delays and Seasonal Challenges

This week, the operating rate of leading enterprises in China's aluminum wire industry recorded 68.8%, a slight decrease of 0.2% from last week. This week, the fourth batch of winning bids for the State Grid's power transmission and transformation projects was announced, with a total of 122,000 tons of conductor and ground wire orders about to be finalized. From a sectoral perspective, the delivery of UHV (Ultra-High Voltage) projects under State Grid orders remained stable, but the matching speed of some State Grid orders slowed down, with a sign of weakening enthusiasm for work resumption among SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises). In September, the orders for photovoltaic aluminum alloy cables rebounded, providing support for the industry's operating rate. As we enter September, the heat may hinder construction progress, leading to a slowdown in delivery speed. It is expected that the operating rate of aluminum wire will have some room for decline in September.
