[Ministry of Commerce: The Number of Applications for Trade-in Subsidies for Vehicles Soared in the Past Two Months] On August 22, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) stated at a regular press conference that as of noon today, the Ministry's trade-in information platform for vehicles had received over 680,000 applications for vehicle scrapping and renewal subsidies. In the past month alone, approximately 340,000 new subsidy applications have been filed. The policy of vehicle scrapping and renewal has significantly boosted the number of end-of-life vehicles collected, with 3.509 million nationwide having been recycled from January to July, a year-on-year increase of 37.4%. Specifically, the recycling of end-of-life vehicles grew by 55.6%, 72.9%, and 93.7% in May, June, and July, respectively. Recently, to further expand the effectiveness of the policy and respond to calls from all parties, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council have decided to allocate funds from extra-long-term special treasury bonds to reinforce support for trade-in activities to boost consumption.
