As the delivery date approaches today (August 13, 2024), the discrepancy in morning quote recommendations is significant. Smelters generally maintained firm quotes, mainly keeping pace with or slightly increasing from the spot prices, while traders suggested gradually aligning with the quote of Shanghai Futures Lead Contract 2409. During the day, the price difference between Shanghai Futures Lead Contracts 2408 and 2409 narrowed to within 300 yuan/ton. Prior to this, under the strong backwardation structure, the spot market delayed in switching to the new month's quotes, fostering a strong sentiment of wait-and-see among market participants.
