The latest data showed that the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) has risen for four consecutive days, increasing by 5.27% on the first day to reach 2,158 points. Capesize vessels led the gains, with daily rental rates soaring by 10.09% to break through the $30,000 mark, reaching $31,438. Shipping companies such as Yumin stated that the strong shipment of Brazilian iron ore and West African alumina promoted the continuous rise in freight rates for capesize vessels. The current freight rate is 2.38 times higher than the average level in July last year. The average BDI index for the first six months of this year reached 1,836 points, with each month higher than the same period last year. Capesize bulk carriers led the gains, with an average daily rent of more than $20,000 per month, and even soared to $31,245 in March.
