According to the Trade Remedy Bureau of Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) has recently announced its preliminary findings on an anti-dumping investigation into aluminum profiles and aluminum products originating in Vietnam. This investigation was launched on October 24, 2023, in response to a request from the United Steelworkers, Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers International Union. The investigation period covered from April 1 to September 30, 2023. The DOC has decided to impose a preliminary countervailing duty rate of 2.85% on one company subject to compulsory litigation and 28 other companies, and a rate of 41.84% on the remaining companies. It is reported that on-site verifications are expected to be conducted on the company subject to compulsory litigation, and the final conclusion will be announced on September 19. The Vietnam Aluminum Association recommends providing manufacturers and exporters with the latest information, while urging companies to pay close attention to the progress of the case, study US policies and anti-dumping procedures, and seek market diversification.
