European Transport & Environment Association: "Chinese-made pure electric vehicles expected to account for over 25% of EU market share this year"
The European Transport & Environment Association (T&E) released a report on March 27, stating that last year, around 19.5% of pure electric vehicles sold in the EU (nearly 290,000 units) were made in China, and this number is expected to increase to 25.4% this year. The report also mentioned that by 2023, Western car manufacturers will hold over half of the market share for Chinese-made pure electric vehicles sold in the EU, with 28% coming from Tesla. However, the market share of Chinese domestic brands is on the rise, increasing from 0.4% in 2019 to 7.9% by 2023, expected to reach 11% this year and rise to 20% by 2027.
