Beijing (Gasgoo)- On March 21, the "Beijing Off-Road 2024 Spring Product Launch Event" took place in Beijing. At the event, Beijing Off-Road, the sub-brand under BAIC Motor, unveiled its electric off-road solution designed for all-terrain driving - the "Magic Core” super electric drive solution, and showcased the first model equipped with this solution, the BJ30.
The Magic Core electric drive solution features a comprehensive and professional off-road architecture that covers A- to C-segment vehicle models. Specifically tailored for off-road scenarios, it incorporates a flexible battery chassis integration design, referred to by Beijing Off-Road as the "Tai Chi Flexible Off-road Chassis."
With four soft connection components, the battery is suspended within the frame, forming a 360° collision protection ring, and the flexible connection between the battery inner cooling plate and the box body mitigates damage caused by frame distortion during cross-axle or pothole encounters.
The Magic Core electric drive boasts low fuel consumption and more efficient energy replenishment units, resolving off-road energy consumption issues comprehensively. Additionally, it features high-performance and more reliable off-road electric drive systems with dual-motor drive bridges equipped with differential locks. Furthermore, the Magic Core electric drive system incorporates a responsive and intelligent decision-making system, known as the "All-Terrain Intelligent Electric ATS," covering more than 11 types of terrain.
Focusing on the inaugural BJ30 model equipped with the above solution, it inherits Beijing Off-Road family's "emotional hardcore" design language, presenting a sleek, modern exterior and interior while maintaining the brand's characteristic sophistication.
In terms of power, the BJ30 is powered by the Magic Core 1.5T electric drive exclusive engine, paired with front and rear dual-drive motors, along with a highly integrated DHT gearbox, delivering a maximum power of 301kW and maximum torque of 685Nm, significantly surpassing traditional 2.0T petrol engines. With synchronous electric drive engagement during startup, it achieves peak torque within 0.5 seconds, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in around 6 seconds.
The BJ30 is expected to be priced at 120,000 yuan and will commence pre-sales at the Auto China 2024 in Beijing.
