Global investment group CDPQ and its portfolio company Shizen Energy Inc. (Shizen Energy) have together acquired 80% of the shares of a solar power plant in Japan. This acquisition marks the first joint investment by CDPQ and Japanese Shizen Energy, and is part of the 500 billion yen (4.6 billion Canadian dollars) joint investment framework announced in October 2022, with CDPQ investing 20 billion yen (186 million Canadian dollars) in the company to support its development. The two parties are currently exploring more joint investment opportunities within this framework.
