【Rare floods engulf the Democratic Republic of Congo, at least 221 dead and tens of thousands of houses damaged】The Democratic Republic of Congo has been facing severe post-disaster resettlement issues since experiencing once-in-60-years massive floods due to nationwide heavy rain since December last year. Sixteen out of the 26 provinces in the country are facing related problems, with a large number of displaced people unable to be properly resettled. Due to a shortage of temporary tents, many flood victims are forced to sleep on the streets. According to the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo and medical charities, the recent massive floods have caused at least 221 deaths and tens of thousands of houses damaged. With the floods crossing, the country's already limited medical resources have become even more stretched, and the risk of contracting malaria and typhoid has increased as a result.
