SMM Daily Report: Carbon Prices Stable on January 31st

SMM, January 31st: The SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate index was 95,640 yuan/ton, up 94 yuan/ton from the previous working day; the average price for battery-grade lithium carbonate was 94,000-99,500 yuan/ton, with an average price of 96,800 yuan/ton, unchanged from the previous working day; the average price for industrial-grade lithium carbonate was 88,000-90,400 yuan/ton, with an average price of 89,200 yuan/ton, up 200 yuan/ton from the previous working day. Currently, some cathode material companies have shown a small-scale replenishment demand in order to plan for post-holiday production resumption, hoping to purchase electric carbon at a lower price. However, settlement of long-term contracts and hedging opportunities have reduced shipment pressure for traders and lithium salt producers, thus maintaining a firm price stance and keeping electric carbon prices stable. Meanwhile, due to most recycling plants being closed or operating at reduced capacity during the holiday, as well as logistical transportation issues in salt lake areas, industrial carbon sources in the market continue to maintain a firm price stance, with a slight increase in prices.
