SMM Data: Apparent consumption of domestic electrolytic aluminum in 2023 is expected to increase by over 5.8% year-on-year, and the growth rate in 2024 may slow down.

Prediction: In the second half of 2024, the operating capacity may continue to rise due to the resumption of production by electrolytic aluminum enterprises in Yunnan entering the high-water period and the commissioning of the new project in Inner Mongolia Huayun Phase III. Considering the future capacity changes, SMM expects the domestic electrolytic aluminum production in 2024 to increase by 2.8% to around 42.68 million tons. In overseas areas such as Indonesia, there are still expectations for the commissioning of some new capacity, and it is expected that the global production of electrolytic aluminum will continue to maintain positive growth driven by the growth in production in China and Southeast Asia.
