China's National Lithium-Ion Battery Industry Sees 17% Production Increase in September and October 2023

Recently, the Electronic Information Division of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the operational status of the national lithium-ion battery industry for September and October 2023. During this period, China's lithium battery industry continued its growth trend. According to calculations based on industry specifications and information from industry associations, the total production of lithium batteries in China exceeded 185GWh in September and October 2023, a 17% increase compared to the same period last year.

In the first-stage material segment, the production of positive electrode materials, negative electrode materials, separators, and electrolytes reached 430,000 tons, 300,000 tons, 2.7 billion square meters, and 200,000 tons, respectively, representing an increase of over 25% for each.

In the second-stage material segment, the production of lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide in September and October was approximately 81,000 tons and 46,000 tons, respectively, with the market prices for battery-grade lithium carbonate and battery-grade lithium hydroxide (micro-powder grade) being 178,000 yuan/ton and 175,000 yuan/ton respectively.
