The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the aluminum electrolysis plant area (section one) of the North Kalimantan project in Indonesia, undertaken by Guizhou Branch of China Sixth Metallurgical Construction Group Co., Ltd., was held on December 12th. The project is located in the Tanah Kuning Industrial Park of the North Kalimantan Economic Zone in Indonesia, with a total construction area of approximately 362,500 square meters. Once completed, the plant will annually produce 1 million tons of electrolytic aluminum and corresponding anodes. The project is operated by China's Liqin, and built by Indonesia's Adaro Energy with an investment of approximately 20 billion US dollars, equivalent to 30.5 trillion Indonesian Rupiah. The first phase of aluminum production capacity will be 500,000 tons per year. In the next phase of production and development, the Adaro aluminum smelter will also utilize new energy sources and renewable energy (EBT) from hydroelectric power plants (PLTA), and will comply with modern and environmentally friendly construction standards.
