According to SMM news on December 12th, Caterpillar is investing in the recycling technology developer Nth Cycle to promote the reuse of metals in batteries and construction equipment. Nth Cycle, headquartered in Massachusetts, aims to develop the portable system Oyster to selectively extract nickel-cobalt metals from waste through electrochemical methods. Each Oyster facility is expected to process 3000 tons of material per year, producing 300 to 500 tons of nickel-cobalt metals annually.
