On November 27, Sigma Lithium Corporation announced the loading of a 22,000-tonne shipment of its environmental-friendly Triple Zero Green Lithium to Glencore at the Port of Vitoria, Brazil. Glencore will prepay 50% of for the shipment of Sigma’s Lithium concentrate at a provisional “premium” price of 9% of the benchmark lithium hydroxide price .
“Triple Zero” suggests a strong focus on sustainability: no tailings, no hazardous chemicals, and no carbon footprint as it is achieved through carbon credits. Other sustainability strategies are also taken, according to the announcement. Sigma aims to demonstrate the consistent performance of its Greentech Plant, and to achieve annual nameplate capacity of 270,000 tonnes. The performance and delivery of the Plant could set up new standards for other suppliers who are seeking influential buyers like Glencore.
