Silicon wafer prices still at downside risk, even as stocks have fallen back to 1.5 billion pieces

Mainstream transaction prices of monocrystalline silicon wafer 182mm and 210mm were stable at 2.3-2.5 yuan/piece and 3.2-3.4 yuan/piece this week. Mainstream transaction prices remained at 2.4 yuan/piece. At present, silicon wafer inventory shrank to less than 1.5 billion pieces, largely pinned on high scheduled production of solar cell. However, silicon wafer production is expected to be 58GW in November, which may lead to inventory build-up. In addition, polysilicon prices will creep down. Therefore, silicon wafer prices are still likely to trend lower.
