News has it that BMW has received the first batch of solid-state batteries from Solid Power, a solid-state battery manufacturer. In May 2021, BMW and Ford Motor Company announced a joint investment of $130 million in SolidPower, a solid-state lithium battery company, to bet on the future of electric vehicle solid-state battery technology. In February of this year, BMW Group expanded its joint development agreement with Solid Power.

Under the agreement, Solid Power plans to deliver full-size automotive cells for testing to the BMW Group. BMW plans to launch its first BMW prototype car with full solid-state battery technology before 2025.
